TWELVE Chinese were arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation-National Capital Region in Muntinlupa City for illegal possession of firearms and resisting arrest.

The operation targeting three houses in Ayala Alabang was conducted from 10 p.m. last Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday based on a search warrant issued by Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Judge Liezel Aquatan.

The search warrants were served on Min Zhiang, Xiong Guo, Lei Zhang, Liu Libing and several other Chinese occupants of the three houses.

In a house on Mango St., NBI operatives recovered five firearms, including two with tampered serial numbers, ammunition and gun accessories.

Four guns, including one in a Toyota Grandia and another in a Cadillac Escalade, were seized on 100 Dayap St., while a gun and a tactical knife were recovered in a house on 102 Dayap St.

Four other vehicles were also impounded after the arrested individuals failed to present documents of their ownership.

The operation was carried out after a request made by officials of the subdivision who suspected the Chinese of using the houses for illicit activities.

The suspects were presented before the Muntinlupa City prosecutors’ office for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition and Regulation Act, and for resisting and disobeying a person in authority.

The arrest came as the Chinese Embassy in Manila issued an advisory cautioning its citizens in the country over what it described as the “unstable public security.”

The embassy also asked its nationals to conduct a risk assessment and make prudent travel decisions.
