NEARLY 108,000 children in the National Capital Region, aged 0-23 months, are being targeted by the Department of Health for immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) under the “Bakuna BayaniJuan: Big Catch-up Immunization” campaign that was launched yesterday in Caloocan City
The goal of the campaign, which will run until December 16, is to reach 107,995 children in Metro Manila, said Rio Magpantay, director of the Department of Health’s Metro Manila Center for Health Development.
Included in the immunization drive are Bacillus Calmette-Guérin for tuberculosis, Hepatitis B, bivalent oral polio vaccine, pentavalent (for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, HIB, and Hepatitis B), pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, inactivated poliovirus caccine, and measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccines.
Vaccination efforts will take place through house-to-house visits, fixed posts at health centers, and temporary vaccination stations set up by local government units.
“These approaches are designed to ensure maximum access and convenience for communities across NCR,” said Magpantay.
