A farmer was killed while another was seriously injured after being shot by neighbors over a land dispute in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Police identified the fatality who died on the spot due to multi-ple gunshot wounds as alias Jose, 49, a resident of Sitio Cat-mon, Barangay San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal.
The other victim was identified as alias Roberto, 60, a neighbor of Jose, who sustained gunshot wounds. He was brought to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center.
The unidentified gunmen are still at large.
Investigation showed the incident occurred along a secluded ar-ea of Sitio Catmon, Barangay San Rafael at around 2 a.m. last Sunday.
The family of the victims said they were often harassed and threatened by the group of a certain Ruben over the land dis-pute, adding the group demanded monthly dues and ordered the victims to vacate the land which the victim’s family has been tilling for several years. The victims tried to reason with the suspects, who quickly drew their handguns and fired.
