ONE person died, three others remained missing, and over a thousand people were displaced due to rains caused by the shearline in the Bicol region.
Police named the fatality as Edilberto Merilla, 52, who was buried in a landslide in Purok 1, Barangay Anameam in Labo, Camarines Norte on Monday night.
Merilla’s companion, Mary Ann Merilla, 49, was injured.
The victims’ neighbors pulled Edilberto and Mary Ann from the debris. They were brought to a hospital but Edilberto was declared dead on arrival.
Office of Civil Defense-Bicol administrator Claudio Yucot said two senior citizens are missing after they were swept away by strong water currents in Cabusao, Camarines Sur. The victims’ e-bike has been recovered.
Sarah Aviado, Camarines Norte public information officer, said a fisherman was reported missing in the province.
Another person was injured due to collapsed wall.
Aviado also said 574 families or 1,380 individuals from 10 municipalities of the province were displaced by the flooding.
She said flooding in many areas has subsided. Floods remained in three barangays as of yesterday and many of the evacuees have already returned to their homes.
Yucot said 226 families were displaced in Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate and Catanduanes. He did not say how many persons are composing these families.
