GOING into the second half of the 10-day voter registration period, more than 1.2 million have already applied to become registered voters in time for the December 2025 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Data released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed that 1,204,144 individuals have applied to become voters from August 1 to 6.
In the sixth day of the registration activities, 222,246 voter registrants across all regions.
The poll body met its original one million target last Tuesday. On Wednesday, it said it has set a new target of 1.5 million voter registrants for the 10-day activity, which started on August 1 and will run until August 10.
Calabarzon has the highest number of applicants after six days with 154,987; followed by Central Luzon with 130,767 applicants.
Also in the top 5 are Bicol Region with 95,649; National Capital Region with 95,373; and Central Visayas with 94,298.
