THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said aspiring overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) may submit their national identification (ID) cards when applying for government-to-government (G2G) employment opportunities abroad.
In Advisory No. 095-2023, the DMW – Pre Employment and Government Placement Bureau (PEGPB) said the national IDs may be used instead of the Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) cards issued by the Social Security System (SSS).
“All concerned government-to-government applicants may submit/use their National ID issued by the Philippine Statistical Authority (PSA) in lieu of the UMID Card,” the advisory said as it took note of SSS’ continued suspension of the issuance of the UMID cards.
The agency suspended the issuance of the UMID cards due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The DMW-PEGPB, however, said applicants for G2G jobs in Taiwan are still required to secure SSS membership certification.
“For Taiwan-bound G2G applicants, you shall still be required to submit a certification from the SSS attesting to your membership, along with your National ID,” it said.
The certifications should include the applicant’s complete name, SSS number, gender, and birthdate.
