THE Nacionalista Party led by businessman and former Senate President Manny Villar endorsed presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

“We believe that Bongbong and Inday Sara’s message of unity is crucial in binding our country together and inspiring our people as we rebuild not only from the pandemic but also from the political chasm that divides us. They both have the platforms of government, qualifications and track record to lead our country towards unity and prosperity,” said Villar in a statement.

Villar, once a presidential candidate, is president and chairman of the national directorate of the Nacionalista Party.

Marcos was a member of the Nacionalista Party until his transfer to the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas in 2019.

Villar’s son, former Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, is part of the senatorial slate of BBM-Sara UniTeam Alliance.

Marcos thanked the Villars for their support.

Last week, the PDP-Laban faction headed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi  and the National Unity Party announced their endorsement of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.

President Duterte will join PDP-Laban campaign rallies starting March 31, party officials said yesterday, including a grand rally in Cebu, said PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Salvador Panelo.

Panelo said he does not know if Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio will be endorsed by the President.
