The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announced yesterday the film ratings for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries.
Divided into three categories, the MTRCB’s ratings aim to guide viewers in selecting films suitable for their age groups.
The G (General Audience) category is deemed suitable for all audiences, ensuring a family-friendly viewing experience. Among the films receiving a G rating are “Family of Two” (A Mother and Son story) by Cineko Production Inc. and “Penduko” by Viva Communications, Inc.
PG (Parental Guidance) is for viewers below thirteen years old, this category mandates the presence of a parent or supervising adult when admitted to a “PG” film. Notable entries include “Becky and Badette” by The Ideafirst Company Inc., “Broken Hearts Trip” by Smart Films Production OPC, and “When I Met You in Tokyo” by JG Productions Inc.
Geared toward a more mature audience, the R-13 (Restricted-13) category warns of content that may include themes, language, violence, nudity, sex, horror, and drugs, unsuitable for children below thirteen (13) years old. Films under this rating include “Kampon” by Quantum Films Inc and “Mallari” by Mentorque Events Management Service.
MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto encourages the public to embrace the magic of cinema that promotes family bonding and cultural appreciation. “MMFF is a celebration best experienced with family and friends. Sama-sama, manumbalik po tayo sa sinehan tungo sa Responsableng Panonood.”
