JUST six days before the campaign ends, Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso yesterday urged his supporters to redouble their efforts and go all out in convincing voters to back his presidential bid.

“Sa nga nagtitiwala sa atin, sa mga nangangampanya sa atin (To those who believe in me, to those who are campaigning for me) I hope I’m not asking too much with six days to go, humayo tayo, sabi nga sa simbahan, at mag-parami (as the church would say it, go out and multiply),” Moreno told reporters in an ambush interview in Tanza, Cavite where he held a townhall meeting with workers as part of his Labor Day activities.

Moreno advised his supporters to be respectful of the choices of other people when they campaign.

“Pero gusto kung maging magalang kayo. Huwag kayong tutulad sa ginagawa ng pula at dilaw. What I want is samahan ninyo ako na tuldukan na natin ang away ng pula at dilaw (But I want all of you to be respectful. Do not be like the reds and yellows. What I want is for you to be with me as we put an end to the quarrel between the reds and the yellows),” Moreno said, referring to the colors associated with the camp of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong”Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo.

Moreno once again offered himself as an alternative to what he said is the never-ending feud between the Marcos and Robredo camps.

He said the two opposing camps have been given the chance to lead the country but that both of them failed to lift ordinary Filipinos out of poverty.

“Sila naman nabigyan na natin ng pagkakataon na ayusin ang buhay natin, 21 years ang pula, 18 years ang dilaw. It’s been 39 years na umiikot lang ang buhay natin sa kanila kaya tuldukan na natin ang away para naman makapamuhay tayo ng payapa at maayos at walang higantihan (They have been given the chance to change our lives for the better, 21 years for the reds and 18 years for the yellows. It’s been 39 years wherein our lives only revolved around these two opposing camps that’s why we have to put an end to their quarrel so that we may have the chance to progress),” the Manila mayor said.

He said it is the right of Filipinos to demand of their leaders who can give them peace of mind and address the problems besetting the country.

If elected as the country’s next president, Moreno vowed to appoint persons based on qualifications regardless of their political leanings or colors.

“I want people who are good in their respective field of undertaking as I have promised the people. The basis of appointment is meritocracy.

At the same time, Moreno said he is hoping to get the endorsement of the influential Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), saying getting the support of the block-voting religious group will boost his candidacy,
