Moreno: PH needs crisis manager

MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno said the electorate should elect a crisis manager as the country’s next president in the May elections.

And the crisis manager he has in mind to better lead the country is no other than himself, saying that his humble beginnings have equipped him with the skills needed to become an effective leader, and understanding the plight of the ordinary Filipinos.

“What we need in my opinion is a crisis manager. I am not boasting or what but I spent my entire life facing crisis after crisis,” Moreno said in the first presidential debate organized by the Commission on Elections last Saturday.

He narrated that he started his life as a garbage collector, a side car boy, actor and someone who had no education but was able to surmount these challenges to become what he is now today.

“I bravely faced all the odds in order to survive and get through those crises. And if you give me the chance to become the country’s next president in the May elections, I will do just that,” Moreno vowed.

“Now that we are still being challenged by the pandemic, we need more than ever a crisis manager to steer us away from this,” he added.

Moreno, 47, reiterated that he and his running mate, Willie Ong, would focus on life and livelihood should they win. He said a Moreno presidency would focus on these two issues while ensuring the government would not get sidetrack in addressing the problem of the pandemic.

Moreno also vowed to establish more COVID-19 field hospitals similar to the one set up by the Manila city government last year to cater to COVID patients and procure more drugs against the virus.

He said he will also fix the mess that is the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.
He also defended getting the support of controversial blogger and die-hard Duterte supporter Mocha Uson despite the latter’s role in disinformation in the last six years, including her August 2021 misleading post about the COVID-19 vaccination program in Manila.

Reiterating his previous stand, Moreno said he and his team welcomes any support “On my part, on our part, we need all the help that we can get to convince others to vote and support team Moreno,” Moreno said.

Moreno said he would leave it to Uson if she would also support his running mate, Willie Ong, or the Aksyon Demokratiko senatorial candidates of Samira Gutoc, Carl Balita, Jopet Sison, and guest candidate John Castriciones.
