WAIVED and will have to wait.

Chanelle Molina’s WNBA dream is not yet over but she faces a big hurdle.

The Fil-Am guard was cut yesterday by Indiana apparently due to a right ankle injury she suffered in the second day of the Fever’s training camp.

“Roster update: We have waived Chanelle Molina,” Indiana posted on its Instagram account.

Born and raised in Hawaii by Filipino parents, the 5-foot-9 Molina was signed up to a training camp contract by the Fever last February, boosting her bid to become the first Pinay to gain WNBA foothold.

After posting photos of her bruises on her Instagram account, Molina reposted a series of well-wishes from her sisters and friends.

Molina was part of a 20-woman lineup in the camp seeking to gain a slot for the regular season and is determined to achieve her lofty goals.

“I will be making history by being the first ever Filipino to play in the WNBA. I’m very excited to make history and have that happen. I feel like I’m probably already an inspiration to the Filipinos out there, not just female athletes but Filipinos all over,” Molina said in a previous story posted by Indiana on its website.

“I think I’ll be representing the Filipino community by making it to the WNBA. So, knowing that I have the Filipino’s community support is very motivating so I am going to do whatever I can to make that happen and a reality,” she added.

Molina played collegiate basketball for Washington State for four years in the US NCAA Division I.

After going undrafted in the 2020 WNBA draft, Molina turned pro in Sweden.

A prep star listed as a five-star recruit by ESPN.com, Molina also saw action for the Norrkoping Dolphins in Basketligan, the top pro league in Sweden.
