The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) promises a spectacular lineup this December with a total of ten films that viewers can choose from.
The MMFF executive committee yesterday announced that it has expanded the roster of official entries from eight to ten. The six newest additions offer a diverse selection of dramas, romance, comedies, and horror films. They are:
“Firefly” is a gripping drama from GMA Films, featuring a star-studded cast including Dingdong Dantes, Max Collins, Epi Quizon, Alessandra de Rossi, and more. Directed by Zig Dulay.
“GomBurZa” is a historical drama chronicling three heroic priests, with a cast led by Cedrick Juan, Dante Rivero, and Enchong Dee. Directed by Pepe Diokno.
“When I Met You In Tokyo” is a heartwarming romance-drama starring the beloved tandem of Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon. It is directed by Rado Peru and Rommel Penza.
“Becky and Badette” is a comedy from IdeaFirst Company, helmed by Jun Lana. The ensemble includes Eugene Domingo, Pokwang, Agot Isidro, and more.
“Mallari” is a horror-drama directed by Derrick Cabrido centered around the first Filipino serial killer. Piolo Pascual plays the lead.
“Broken Hearts Trip” is an LGBT-themed comedy produced by Smart Films Productions, OPC with BMC Films. It is directed by Lemuel Lorca and features Christian Bables, Andoy Ranay, Iyah Mina in the cast.
These new entries join the initial four films announced in July, creating a ten-film lineup for the 49th MMFF. The previously revealed movies include “A Mother and Son’s Story,” “(K)Ampon,” “Penduko,” and “Rewind.”
The 49th MMFF is set to run from December 25 until January 2024.
