A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic aide was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly demanding P20 each from every bus that load and unload passengers along EDSA Mandaluyong.

Col. Remigio Sedanto, city police head, identified the traffic aide as Rodrigo Maghanoy, 47.

He will face violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees and the Anti-Graft and Corruption Practices Act.

Recovered from him was P260 in cash which is believed to have come from buses loading and unloading passengers at certain areas of the EDSA.

Reports showed that Staff Sgt. Joselito Capito of the Mandaluyong Police Station alighted from his vehicle to investigate why traffic on the south-bound lane of EDSA near a mall in Barangay Wack Wack has been building up.

Capito reportedly learned that passenger buses were picking up passengers in a no loading and unloading area, with conductors of these buses dropping P20 each in a box atop a motorcycle parked in the area.

Capito learned that the motorcycle belonged to Maghanoy and arrested him.
