THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday reminded motorists to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations even while the No Contact Apprehension Policy is still suspended.

Don Artes, acting MMDA chairman, said the agency has tallied 256,977 traffic violations in Metro Manila from the time the NCAP was suspended in August last year up to the first week of June this year.

He said although the NCAP has been suspended by the Supreme Court, the MMDA is still monitoring CCTVs installed all over the metropolis.

Among the most common violations are disregarding traffic signs, violation of the number coding scheme, illegal loading/unloading, obstruction, violation of the dress code among public utility drivers, attended illegal parking, violation of the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, reckless driving, and driving without a crash helmet, among others.

For 2022, MMDA records showed there were 761 various traffic violations recorded on August 30 and 31; 22,736 in September; 25,856 in October; 24,295 in November; and 23,664 in December.
