THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday said it will create a “strike force” to augment personnel assigned to clear Mabuhay Lanes and other roadways in the metropolis of illegally parked vehicles.
MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes said the “strike force” will be composed of several teams of motorcycle-riding traffic enforcers assigned to respond to reports of illegally parked vehicles.
He said it will be headed by MMDA General Manager Procopio LIpana and Traffic Discipline Office Director for Enforcement Victor Nunez.
Target areas, according to Artes, for deployment are areas where the agency previously conducted operations against illegally parked vehicles.
“The strike force shall conduct regular clearing operations on all Mabuhay Lanes and reported areas to ensure that alternate routes are passable and obstruction-free. They will be equipped with body-worn cameras and handheld ticketing devices which they will use in their operations,” Artes said.
There are 17 Mabuhay Lane routes coming from EDSA, North Luzon Expressway, Quezon City and Manila.
Artes also urged the public to report to the agency areas where there is a high concentration of illegally parked vehicles.
The penalty for unattended illegally parked vehicles is P1,000 while attended yet illegally parked vehicles will be fined P2,000.
