METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority chief Romando Artes yesterday said the agency will start issuing citation tickets to violators of the ban against e-bikes, e-trikes, pushcarts, pedicabs, kuliglig and other light electric vehicles on major roads in the metropolis today, Wednesday.
Artes also said 55 vehicles were accosted for violating the ban last Monday.
“Fifty-five (vehicles) were accosted on the first day of the dry run in the implementation of the prohibition against tricycles, pushcart, pedicab, kuliglig, e-bike, e-trike and other light electric vehicles on national roads, circumferential roads, radial roads and others within the jurisdiction of the MMDA,” Artes said.
Artes made it clear the violators were not issued traffic citation tickets since April 15 and 16 are dry runs of the prohibition to raise awareness among the public.
“They were just reminded of the regulation,” Artes added.
“If the units are not registered and the ones driving it fail to present a license, the unit will be confiscated and impounded,” Artes said.
The electric light vehicles are not allowed to use Recto Avenue, Quirino Avenue, Araneta Avenue, Epifanio delos Santos Avenue, Katipunan/C.P. Garcia Avenue, Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, Roxas Boulevard, Taft Avenue, Osmeña Highway or South Super Highway, Shaw Boulevard, Ortigas Avenue, Magsaysay Boulevard/Aurora Boulevard, Quezon Avenue/Commonwealth Avenue, A. Bonifacio Avenue, Rizal Avenue, Delpan Street/Marcos Highway/McArthur Highway, Elliptical Road, Mindanao Avenue, Marcos Highway, Boni Avenue, and España Boulevard.
