MORE than 87,000 kilos of recyclable materials have been collected by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority since last January as part of its “Recyclables Mo, Palit Grocery Ko” project.

Data provided by the agency said a total of 87,840.44 kilos of recyclables were collected by its Mobile Materials Recovery Facility since the start of this year.

MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes said the agency, in turn, provided P337,581 worth of groceries to residents who collected and turned over the materials.

“Under this project, there is a corresponding point for every recyclable like bottles, papers and cans that they can exchange for basic goods such as sugar, oil and canned goods,” he said.

The earned and redeemed points of each resident are all duly recorded in their own Ecosavers Passbook provided by the MMDA.
