MMDA collects 48 tons of garbage in 27 cemeteries

THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected almost 48 tons of garbage from 27 cemeteries under its watch for this year’s Undas commemoration, nearly 10 tons lesser than what was collected last year.

Assistant Sec. Celine Pialago said from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, the agency collected 47.65 tons of garbage, compared to57.95 tons last year.

Pialago said the agency’s “zero vendor policy” in cemeteries this year contributed to the decrease in the amount of garbage collected.

Some of the major cemeteries under the agency’s watch are Manila North Cemetery in Manila, Manila South Cemetery in Makati, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City, Bagbag Public Cemetery in Quezon City, and Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City.
