METRO Manila council (MMC) president and San Juan City mayor Francis Zamora yesterday said there will be no discounts for senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) who will violate traffic rules under the Single Ticketing System (STS).

“I’m sorry but the fines are now uniform. We have unified all fines to avoid confusion,” Zamora said.

Pilot testing of the traffic violation ticketing system started yesterday in seven Metro Manila cities – Manila, Parañaque, Caloocan, Quezon City, San Juan, Muntinlupa, and Valenzuela.

Zamora also said traditional payment methods at city halls are available for those who are unfamiliar with online banking and e-wallet payments,.

He said digital on-the-spot payments of fines can also be made.

Zamora said that during the pilot testing period, no additional interest rates will be charged for late payments of fines.

The San Juan mayor, however, said the single-ticketing regulations may be “amended” to include interest rates, depending on the behavior of motorists while the system is being piloted.
