AFTER ten years with Binibining Pilipinas which produced the country’s two Miss Intercontinental winners, the Miss Intercontinental franchise is back with Mutya ng Pilipinas, which originally held the franchise in the 1990s.
Mutya ng Pilipinas (MNP), one of the most respected and longest-running pageants in the country, proudly announced last night its official alliance with the Miss Intercontinental Organization (MIO) at CWC Interiors in BGC.
Having been awarded the license for 2023, this means that Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 Iona Violeta Gibbs will be the official delegate to the Miss Intercontinental 2023.
Fred Yuson, chairman of MNP, said, “In 2019, on our 51st Mutya ng Pilipinas edition, I made a commitment towards MNP’s growth and expansion. Today is the day with the announcement of our formal ties with MIO.”
MNP president Cory Quirino added, “We welcome MIO with open arms and look forward to a great year in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2023. Pageant fans should expect much enthusiasm and excitement this year and hopefully in the years to come.
“Sharing compatible approaches in its platform for beauty pageantry, MIO searches throughout the continents just as Mutya ng Pilipinas conducts its campaign in the far reaches of the country’s hometowns and in Filipino overseas communities abroad.”
Expectations are high for a formidable partnership between the 51-year-old Miss Intercontinental Organization and Mutya Ng Pilipinas which will stage its 53rd edition this year.
Also present at the event together with Gibbs were the other Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 winners: Jeanette Reyes, MNP-Tourism International; Shannon Robinson, MNP-Luzon; Megan Campbell, MNP-Visayas and Marcelyn Bautista, MNP-Mindanao.
Former MNP chairmen Roberto de Venecia and Sonny Lim, as well as ProMedia’s power couple Paul Izon Reyes and Jam Aquino, who manages and trains Gibbs on her pageant journey, were also in attendance.
