THE provincial government od Misamis Occidental has given a P500,000 cash assistance to a rebel returnee to help him start a new phase in his life.
Gov. Henry S. Oaminal led the handover of the cash aid to alias “Cesar.” He was joined by Philippine Army officials MGen. Antonio Nafarrete, 10th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Jose Andre Monje, and 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Elmer Scuderio.
“Cesar’s courageous return to our community is another win for Misamis Occidental’s peace and order initiatives, in line with the provincial thrust of our 5Ms,” Oaminal said.
The 5Ms, or ‘Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon’ (Misamisnon Live Peaceful, Prosperous and Happy lives) is one of Oaminal’s flagship initiatives for the province.
Oaminal said one of the key priorities of the 5M platform is “to find an end to the insurgency and conflict in Misamis Occidental.”
“In granting him our assistance, we aim to send a message to other rebels that they, too, can return to the fold of the law anytime, and live in harmony with our countrymen,” the governor said.
