A SUSPECTED member of two kidnapping and illegal drug syndicates was killed in a shootout with operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in Tamarac town in Lanao del Sur yesterday morning.
AKG spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod identified the fatality as Aleman Bantuas Boratong, alias Boy Negro, a member of the Abdul Radia kidnap-for-ransom group and Amin Iman Boratong drug group.
Citing a report reaching AKG chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, Lumactod said AKG operatives swooped down at the lair of Boratong in Barangay Poblacion 4 at around 3:30 a.m. to serve arrest warrant for various charges.
Lumactod said Boratong opened fire at the lawmen, prompting the lawmen to retaliate. Boratong died upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Lumactod said Boratong’s drug group operates in Pasig City. He said Boratong’s kidnap-for-ransom group operates in Lanao provinces.
He said Boratong and his group were involved in at least three kidnapping cases, including that of businesswoman Narija Saldivar in Iligan City sometime in 2010.
