AT least 212 measles cases have been reported by the Department of Health from January 1 to June 11 this year, nearly double compared to the same period last year.
According to the agency’s latest Measles Surveillance Report, the number is 89 percent higher than the 112 cases reported in the first six months last year.
Davao Region has the highest number of measles cases with 38, followed by 24 in Calabarzon.
Completing the top five regions are the National Capital Region, Eastern Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula with 20 cases each.
Seeing the biggest jump in cases from last year is Central Luzon at 12 from only 2 last year (500%), followed by Davao Region at 38 from only 9 last year (322%).
