TROPICAL depression “Marilyn” entered the Philippine area of responsibility yesterday and will bring rains to Metro Manila and many other areas.

However, it remains “less likely” to make landfall in any part of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 10 a.m. yesterday, the center of Marilyn was some 1,355 km east of Casiguran, Aurora. It was packing moving northeast at 25 kph, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Marilyn is forecast to be 1,115 km east of Aparri in Cagayan today, 1,095 km east of Basco in Batanes on Saturday, 1,365 km east northeast of Basco on Sunday, and 1,365 km northeast of Basco (already out of PAR) on Monday morning.

PAGASA said Marilyn will bring light to moderate rains and intermittent heavy rain showers to most of Luzon including Metro Manila, the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Northern Mindanao, and Soccsksargen.

It advised residents in these areas, especially those in communities susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides, to take precautionary measures.
