THE Marikina government yesterday opened a Shoe Bazaar on the ground floor of the city-owned multi-level parking building and waived rental fees as well as electricity charges for stalls to help shoemakers.
During the opening of the bazaar, Mayor Marcelino Teodoro signed Ordinance No. 121, Series of 2023 which exempts shoe and leather goods retailers of the Philippine Footwear Federation Incorporated (PFFI) from payment of rental fees, including electricity charges, from November 13, 2023 to January 15, 2024.
Teodoro said the measure seeks to help businesses in Marikina and boost the city’s local economy.
He said they want to boost the shoe-making industry and create more jobs.
A total of 47 local manufacturers of shoes, bags, and other leather goods are participating in the bazaar, showcasing products made in Marikina.
