THE Marikina government has received P2.3 million in incentive funds as well as the Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Mayor Marcelino Teodoro accepted the awards handed out by DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin at the Marikina City Hall last Monday.
Agustin said the Seal of Good Governance is a recognition that symbolizes the commitment and dedication of local government units to adhere to the highest standards of governance.
In his acceptance speech, Teodoro expressed gratitude to the DILG for recognizing the collective efforts of Marikina.
“Setting the standard for transparency and integrity and more importantly efficiently and effectively delivering the services of the government, thank you very much,” Teodoro said.
Agustin said the P2.3 million is not just a monetary award but also an investment for the future of the city.
The SGLG, enacted through the Republic Act (RA) 11292, is an institutionalized award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program that encourages local governments to commit to continual advancement and improvement in several governance areas. — Christian Oineza
