POLICE operatives arrested four suspected drug dealers who yielded 100 kilos of marijuana worth P12 million in an anti-drug operation in Isabela last Tuesday.
The PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) identified the suspects as Ericson Wacnang, 25; Troy Balloc, 32; Jesrael Maggongoy, 18; and August Malnag, 28.
The four were nabbed at around 10 a.m. in a buy-bust operation conducted by PDEG operatives in coordination with other police units in Purok 1, Barangay Abut in Quezon town.
Seized from them were 96 packs of dried marijuana leaves weighing 100 kilos; a 9 mm pistol, a magazine, 12 rounds of ammunition, a paper bag, P1,000 in cash, a motorcycle and a tricycle.
The four are detained at a facility of the PDEG Special Operations Unit in Cagayan Valley “for documentation and proper disposition.”
PDEG operatives uprooted 26,500 fully-grown marijuana plants during a marijuana eradication operation in Tinglayan town in Kalinga.
The marijuana plants were found in a plantation about 2,650 square meters in Barangay Butbut Proper at around 8 a.m. last Tuesday, PDEG said.
The marijuana plants, worth around P5.3 million, were later burned.
No cultivator was apprehended during the operation.
Col. Dionisio Bartolome, chief of PDEG’s SOU in the Cordillera Administrative Region, commended the personnel involved in the successful operation and encouraged them to continue their marijuana eradication efforts in the region.
