PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has yet to decide if he will accept the invitation to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland on January 15-20, 2023 since it is close to his state visit to China.

“I am undecided yet. It’s travelling too much. That’s already the end of January. I’m going to China on the third. Parang, like my mom says, “When do you go to the office?” I haven’t decided. We’ll see,” he added in mixed English and Filipino during an interview with the Philippine media delegation last Sunday.

Marcos is set to embark on several state visits to different countries in 2023 after being invited by his counterparts from different nations on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Related Summits in Cambodia over the weekend.

The President said being the “new kid on the block,” it was the first time for him and some leaders to meet during and on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit and they invited him.

“I’ve accepted several state visit invitations. Well, China, as you see, I said. Vietnam, Brunei. Actually all…So they’ve all invited me. I said, sure, because I do not say no to anyone. I just said that let us schedule when we are both free. That’s down the road.

Probably next year, we’ll start honoring those invitations,” Marcos said.

The President, who previously said that he loves travelling, has two more official trips abroad before the year ends, namely, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Thailand this week and the ASEAN -European Union (EU) Summit in Belgium in December.

Marcos is also set to hold a state visit to China in January.

The President was also invited to visit Japan but a date has yet to be set.

Marcos, since assuming the presidency, has made four trips abroad — his state visit to Indonesia from September 4 to 6, followed by his state visit to Singapore from September 6 to 7, his visit to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly from September 19 to 24; and his return to Singapore last October 4 to watch the resumption of the F1 Grand Prix and follow up on business agreements during his state visit.
