PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has signed 13 bills into law, including two measures creating new public high schools and five others converting extension schools into independent public elementary or high schools to accommodate and serve more students.
The measures were signed into on June 15 and published at the Official gazette on June 16.
The new laws include Republic Act (RA) No. 11944 that established the Mabca National High School in Barangay Mabca in Sagñay, Camarines Sur, and RA No. 11945 that established the Bolila National High School in Barangay Bolila in Malita, Davao Occidental.
The other laws include RA No. 11941 seaparating the Tukuran Technical-Vocational High School-Baclay Extension in Barangay Baclay in Tukuran, Zamboanga Del Sur from the Tukuran Technical-Vocational High School and converting it into the Baclay National High School; RA No. 11942 separating the Sapa Anding National High School — Ramon Magsaysay Extension in Barangay Poblacion in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga Del Sur from the Sapa Anding Agricultural Vocational Technical School and converting it into the Ramon Magsaysay National High School; RA No. 11943 converting the Mariano Peralta National High School — Datu Danwata Extension to the Gaspar Danwata National High School in Barangay Datu Danwata in Malita, Davao Occidental; RA 11946 converting the Bacoor National High School — Tabing Dagat Annex into the Mariano Gomes National High School in Barangay Tabing Dagat in Bacoor City, Cavite; and RA No. 11952 converting the Addang Elementary School-Ambatutong Extension into the Ambatutong Elementary School in Barangay Bunot in Paracelis, Mountain Province.
Also signed were laws converting existing elementary schools into integrated schools.
Under the procedures of the Department of Education, integrated schools are established in areas that either do not have a school for basic education or only an elementary school is offering a multi-grade program, the number of students teachers and school heads does not warrant the establishment of a separate elementary and secondary school, and there are no sites for the establishment of a secondary school.
