PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. is looking forward to a stronger cooperation between the Philippines and the island nation of Niue after signing last Tuesday a joint communiqué with Premier Dalton Emani Makamau Tagelagi that formally established diplomatic ties.
“We are optimistic that stronger cooperation between our countries will lead to a better future for our people,” the President said in his official Facebook page where he also posted photos of him and Tagalegi signing the joint communiqué.
Tagalegi, in a Twitter post, said he looks forward to growing the relationship of the Philippines and Niue.
Niue, one of the three states in the Realm of New Zealand, is an island state in the South Pacific that is located about 2,400 kilometers northeast of New Zealand.
While it has been a self-governing nation since 1974, New Zealand provides it with the necessary economic and administrative assistance, as well as assistance with foreign affairs, defense and security, if needed.
Apart from the Niue leader, the President also received last Tuesday Ambassadors Ricardo Luis Bocalandro of Argentina, Antonio Jose Maria de Souza e Silva of Brazil, Claudio Alberto Rojas Rachel of Chile, Marcela Ordoñez Fernandez of Colombia, and Gerardo Lozano Arredondo of Mexico.
The President, in his Facebook page, said he “looks forward to strengthening ties and cooperation between our nations to realize the hopes and dreams of our people.”
