OPERATIVES of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group arrested the most wanted person in Marawi City during a law enforcement operation in the city on Saturday afternoon.
Citing a report reaching AKG chief Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, AKG spokesman Maj. Ronaldo Lumactod Jr. identified the suspect as Fahad Sarunay Abdullatif, a former chairman of Barangay Tubok in Tamparan town, Lanao del Sur.
Lumactod said Abdullatif was nabbed at around 1:30 pm in Barangay Sagonsongan in Marawi City by virtue of arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder.
Lumactod said Abdullatif is ranked No. 1 in the list of Marawi City PNP’s most wanted persons.
“The accused was also involved in the series of kidnap-for-ransom activities operating in the province of Lanao del Sur,” Lumactod added but did not give further details.
Asked if Abdullatif is affiliated with a certain group, Lumactod said: “He has no affiliation with groups like the Abu Sayyaf.
“He and his cohorts are scattered and only unite if they have a target,” said Lumactod.
Lumactod said Abdullatif has been turned over to the custody of the Marawi City police station for “documentation.”
