FROM drive-thru to walk-in COVID-19 testing centers.

Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno said the city government will also set up walk-in testing centers for COVID-19 as part of overall efforts to ramp up testing for the deadly novel coronavirus.

Moreno said this will complement the two drive-thru centers recently launched by the city government at the Quirino Grandstand and near the Andres Bonifacio monument in Lawton.

Moreno did not say how many walk-in testing centers will be set up.

The drive-thru testing centers offers free COVID-19 tests for Manila and non-Manila residents.

The Quirino testing center has a capacity to process 700 tests a day while the one near the Bonifacio Monument can process 200. Both testing sites are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blood samples taken at the drive-thru testing centers are sent to the Ospital ng Sampaloc, Ospital ng Maynila and the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center for examination using the three serology machines earlier acquired by the city government.

Within 24 hours those who will yield a positive result will be informed via text message for them to undergo swab tests.
