AS part of the Catholic Church’s celebration of Pope’s Day, the Manila Cathedral will showcase memorabilia of papal visits to the Philippines from June 29 to July 2.

“We wish to make the memory of our popes with the Filipinos close and alive,” the Manila Cathedral said in a social post as it invited the faithful to visit the Papal Visit Memorabilia exhibit.

It said the liturgical and extra-liturgical items used by St. Paul VI, St. John Paul II, and Pope Francis, all of whom had visited the country, will be on exhibit at the Blessed Souls Chapel inside the cathedral.

“See and take a closer look at the portrait given by St. Paul VI to the Apostolic Nunciature, the chair used by St. John Paul II, the missal used by Pope Francis, and many more,” said the cathedral.

Pope Paul VI visited the country in 1970, becoming the first-ever pope to visit to the Philippines.

Pope John Paul II twice visited the county, in 1981 and 1995.

Pope Francis visited in 2015.

After the opening of the papal visit exhibit at 5:30 p.m. on June 29, there will be a Pope’s Day Mass at 6 p.m. at the Manila Cathedral, to be presided by Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown.

The Pope’s Day celebration is being done as part of the observance of the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul.
