THE Manila Cathedral is set to hold a requiem mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI tomorrow at 5 p.m.

It will be presided by Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula with Archbishop Charles Brown, apostolic nuncio to the Philippines, the Manila Cathedral said.

The mass at the cathedral in Intramuros will be held a day after the funeral mass for Benedict XVI at the Vatican.

Pope Francis is set to lead the funeral mass of Benedict XVI on Thursday, January 5, at 9:30 a.m. (Rome time) at the St. Peter’s Square.

After the funeral Mass, Benedict XVI’s coffin will be carried to his place of burial in the crypt of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Benedict XVI passed away on December 31 at the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery where he has resided since his resignation in 2013.

Public viewing at the St. Peter’s Basilica began on January 2.

In the Philippines, the Manila Cathedral opened its Christ the King Chapel to welcome those, who may want to offer prayers, light candles, and write in the book of condolences for Benedict XVI.
