OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group CIDG) arrested the mayor of Datu Salibo town in Maguindanao del Sur last Wednesday night for the murder of a town council in April.
Mayor Solaiman Sandigan did not resist arrest when he was nabbed at around 7:10 p.m. in his residence in Barangay Magaslong in Datu Piang town, also in Maguindanao del Sur.
Sandigan was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by a Cotabato City court.
The warrant was issued by Judge Annabelle Piang earlier Wednesday for the murder of town councilor Demson Silongan near the town hall last April 17. No bail was set for Sandigan.
Silongan’s brother, the chairman of Barangay Penditen, Datu Salibo, died in a bomb attack in Shariff Saydona Mustapha town, also in Maguindanao del Sur, last August 16.
A police report said the arrest of Sandigan was a product of an “intelligence-drive operation.”
“He was not aggressive or arrogant. He immediately submitted himself to us,” said CIDG-Bangsamoro Autonomous Regional in Mindanao chief Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca.
