A MAGNITUDE 6 earthquake rocked Davao Occidental yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs initially reported a magnitude 6.6 quake but later downgraded it to magnitude 6.
The tremor occurred at 9:39 a.m. Its epicenter was some 256 km southeast of Sarangani Island in Sarangani town, Davao Occidental. The quake, of tectonic in origin and had a depth of 155 km.
Shaking was felt at intensity IV in Glan town in Sarangani province.
Phivolcs said it was expecting aftershocks from the quake.
Harley Sauro, of the Sarangani municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, said they have yet to monitor any damage from the quake.
