Magnitude 5.4 quake hits Mindoro; no damage reported

A MAGNITUDE 5.4 earthquake rocked Occidental Mindoro early Sunday and was felt in many parts of Metro Manila.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it was not expecting damage from the quake which occurred around 3:18 am.

Its epicenter was some 20 km northeast of Lubang town in Occidental Mindoro.

The quake, of tectonic in origin, had a depth of 76 km.

It was felt at Intensity 4 in the cities of Makati, Manila and Parañaque, and Intensity 3 in Malabon City, Mandaluyong City, Pasay City, Pateros, Quezon City, and Taguig City in Metro Manila; Tagaytay City in Cavite; Calapan City and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro; and Calatagan, and Lipa City in Batangas. — Victor Reyes
