A MAGNITUDE 5.2 earthquake rocked Davao Oriental yesterday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake occurred at 8:57 a.m. Its epicenter was some 43 km southeast of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 39 km.
Phivolcs said the shaking was felt at Intensity IV in Malita and Santa Maria towns in Davao Occidental and Governor Generoso and San Isidro towns in Davao Oriental.
Compostela town in Davao de Oro, Digos City and Hagonoy town in Davao del Sur, Don Marcelino and Jose Abad Santos towns in Davao Occidental, Glan and Malungon towns in Sarangani, and Tupi town in South Cotabato experienced the shaking at Intensity III.
Intensity II shaking was reported in Maragusan and Mawab towns in Davao del Oro, Tagum City in Davao del Norte, Kiblawan and Santa Cruz in Davao del Sur, Davao City, Mati City and Tarragona in Davao Oriental, Kidapawan City and Arakan town in Cotabato, Alabel and Malapatan towns in Sarangani, Tampakan town in South Cotabato, and Lutayan in Sultan Kudarat.
Phivolcs said it was not expecting damage from the quake.
