A month of being under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) has not dampened the positive outlook of Filipinos, particularly those in Luzon.
A survey conducted by the church-run Radio Veritas showed that the top “emotional disposition” of Luzon residents during the lockdown period is “concern for others” (27.10 percent).
“This implies the ‘altruistic’ predisposition of the respondents towards their family member and loved ones, which are currently not with them physically,” said Veritas Truth Survey head Bro. Clifford Sorita.
“It may likewise be directed towards those in the frontline in our fight against this COVID-19 health crisis, who may either be a family member, relative, friend, acquaintance, or compatriot,” he added.
The survey also showed two out of the Top 5 responses can be considered as positive emotions, particularly safe (2nd, 20.9 percent) and hopeful (4th, 15.3 percent).
The other two most common responses, deemed as negative, are worried (3rd, 19.4 percent); and bored (5th, 5 percent).
“Worry or anxiety may be suggestive of the health and economic concerns this health crisis brings,” said Sorita.
The remaining five common responses are “thankful” (6th, 4.1 percent), “stressed” (7th, 3.5 percent), “sad” (8th, 2.9 percent), “relaxed” (9th, 1.2 percent), and “helpless” (10th, 0.60 percent).
On the overall, Sorita noted how positive depositions of safe, hopeful, concern for others, relaxed and thankful account for 68.6 percent of all the emotions felt by the respondents.
On the other hand, those signifying of negative emotions, namely worried, bored, helpless, sad, and stressed are merely at 31.4 percent.
“This denotes that, overall, Luzon respondents under home isolation see this ECQ more positive rather than negative,” said Sorita.
The Radio Veritas survey was conducted for a month from March 15 to April 15. A total of 1,200 respondents from Luzon participated in the polls conducted through a text-based and online data gathering process.
The survey has a +/- 3% margin of error, according to Radio Veritas
