THE Philippine College of Chest Physicians (PCCP) yesterday called on the public to stop using electronic cigarettes and vaping products due to their potential threat to health.

In its statement for the “World No Tobacco Day” celebration, the PCCP said they are not advising the use of e-cigarettes and vapes as they may cause harm and illnesses.

“PCCP considers e-cigarettes harmful and does not recommend its use. PCCP unequivocally supports the vaping ban,” said PCCP.

“The PCCP highly encourages the public to stop or not even try to use e-cigarettes and vaping products,” it added.

The group of lung specialists said continued use of e-cigarettes and vape products may cause diseases, such as the E-cigarette or Vaping product use Associated Lung Injury (EVALI).

PCCP noted that EVALI is a severe and life-threatening disease associated with the use of vaping products with symptoms initially mimicking common pulmonary conditions like pneumonia.
