A LOW pressure area monitored off Camarines Norte is not expected to intensify into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service said yesterday.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, PAGASA said the LPA was some 35 km north northwest of Daet, Camarines Sur.

The agency said the Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas regions, and the provinces of Aurora and Camarines will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA and southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

“It has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression but it may get near the landmass of Luzon in the coming hours,” weather specialist Samuel Duran said in press briefing.
