A LOW pressure area (LPA) was spotted near Quezon province yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

The LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical depression.

“But on Friday or Saturday, we’re expecting it to make a landfall either in northern or central Luzon and dissipate after this LPA makes a landfall,” said weather specialist Gener Quitlong.

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, the LPA was some 880 km east of Infanta, Quezon or 680 km east northeast of Legazpi City.

Quitlong said the LPA was still far to affect any part of the country. “The entire country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, meaning we’re expecting generally fair weather,” he said.

In a 4 p.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers, due to localized thunderstorms.
