THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) yesterday said a low pressure (LPA) it was monitoring in the past days has exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the LPA was some 250 km west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte as of yesterday morning.

Badrina said the LPA, which entered PAR last Saturday morning, is forecast to dissipate later Wednesday.

“We are not expecting it to intensify (into a tropical depression),” he said.

Badrina said the only weather system affecting the country is the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA said Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the Western Visayas regions and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Badrina said no LPA or tropical cyclones outside PAR is being monitored. — Victor Reyes
