GMA News TV presents “The Lost Recipe,” an original Filipino fantasy-romance series with Korean elements.
Director Monti Parungao admitted he and the writer, Erwin Caezar Bravo, drew inspiration from Koreanovelas.
“Nag concious effort kami na idikit sa quality ng Koreanovela, kas inga nag pandemia, mas lalong sumikat ang Koreanovelas, although ako matagal ng fan,” said Parungao, “Inaral ko rin kung paano nila kinukwento. Yung writer may effort na ikwento siya in a non-traditional way. Hindi siya linear, parati kang merong kaya pala niya ginawa yun. Ang effort na ito kasi ang pinakamahalagang mensahe ng istorya ay everything happens for a reason in our life.
Ang lahat ng tao pag nanood ma-re-realize yun. Ay nangyayari ang mga bagay bagay dahil kailangang mangyari — ang lahat ng characters dito ay interconnected. Tapos ang time element, whether in the past or present, ma re-realize mo pag pinanood mo ay nangyari dahil kailangan siyang mangyari.”
“Lost Recipe” comes up with a new flavor by pairing Mikee Quintos and Kelvin Miranda, who blends food and love in their first lead roles. The gastronomic journey starts when Harvey (Kelvin), a failed chef, gets the chance to travel back in time to steal a famous recipe and make it his own. While chasing his dream to build a culinary empire for his family, he meets Apple (Mikee), an aspiring chef who gets to work in his company.
Mikee looks forward for viewers to get to know Apple and Harvey. Even before beginning the taping for the series, she has been exploring the kitchen herself, saying that cooking has helped her during the pandemic.
“Being stuck at home because of the quarantine, ang daming time mag-explore sa kitchen and magluto. I find it therapeutic kasi nagfo-focus ka sa pagluto, wala kang ibang iniisip, so sana makatulong ang mga natutunan ko nitong pandemic sa show na ito. Kelvin and I are working together to best show the viewers the story of The Lost Recipe and sana this series will somehow give hope and inspire people to dream,” she shares.
“First time ko makakagawa ng ganitong klaseng project,” says Kelvin, “Lahat ng naging trabaho ko seryoso so ang laking panibago sa akin na mula seryoso naging romance and comedy. Excited na ako.”
Sure to add more flavors to the series are the intriguing characters of Thea Tolentino, Paul Salas, Lucho Ayala, Maureen Larrazabal, Almira Muhlach, Sue Prado, Topper Fabregas, and Ariella Arida. Phytos Ramirez, Prince Clemente, Anton Amoncio, Faye Lorenzo, and Crystal Paras also join the kitchen adventure with Manilyn Reynes, Gabby Eigenmann, and Kim Rodriguez.
“The Lost Recipe” airs weeknights at 8, beginning January 18 on GMA News TV. Viewers abroad can also catch “The Lost Recipe” via GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.
