THE Department of Education announced that early registration in public schools nationwide for School Year 2022-2023 is set to start today, Friday.
In a memorandum dated March 21, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the early registration, which will last April 30, will enable the department to “to make the necessary preparations and adjustment of plans” for the incoming school year.
In the memorandum, Briones said only incoming kindergarten and Grades 1, 7 and 11 students in public elementary and secondary schools need to pre-register as incoming Grades 2 to 6 and 8, to 11 and 12 are already considered as pre-registered.
“Private schools are encouraged to conduct their respective early registration activities on the same timeframe,” Briones said.
Due to the pandemic, Briones said in-person registration will only be allowed in areas under Alert Levels 1 and 2.
The DepEd has yet to announce the date of the start of classes for School Year 2022-2023.
Since the pandemic began two years ago, the DepEd has implemented a blended learning set-up using modules and online learning to enable students to continue their education.
Last Wednesday, the department said virtual or online learning will remain as a mode of learning even as schools prepare for the resumption of limited face-to-face classes.
DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma said 14,396 public and private schools nationwide with 2.6 million students have been nominated by DepEd regional officials to resume limited face-to-face classes.
