KARATEKAS Alvin Agustin and Joan Orbon were the latest to fall by the wayside in the world Olympic karate qualifying tournament in Paris, France last Saturday.

Competing in the men’s 75-kilogram division, Agustin, a bronze medalist in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, lost 0-1 in the opening round to Colombia’s Juan Landazuri.

Left to contend for Olympic slots in matches set late yesterday were 30th SEA Games gold medalist Jaimie Christine Lim and Sharief Afif in the women’s +61kg and men’s +75kg divisions, respectively.
