AMID rains from storm “Agaton,” Leyteños showed up for motorcades and campaign rallies of the UniTeam of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (BBM) on Saturday in Maasin, Baybay, Ormoc and Tacloban cities.
The Marcos camp said at least 210,000 people attended the UniTeam event at the Leyte Grandstand that was participated in by senatorial candidates Sherwin Gatchalian, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Mark Villar, Harry Roque, Jinggoy Estrada, Herbert Bautista, and Robin Padilla.
UniTeam vice presidential bet Sara Duterte-Carpio was not able to join the events in the Eastern Visayas region as she held a campaign rally in Sta. Ignacia in Tarlac and met with Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap, before attending a birthday concert for Cavite Mayor Lani Revilla at the Bacoor Government Center.
Duterte-Carpio held a meet and greet yesterday with persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the compound of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Quezon City
She vowed to empower PWDs by providing them jobs and livelihood training if she wins.
She also met with representatives of the women’s sector, food delivery riders, and vendors group from Quezon City.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio have been holding campaign rallies and motorcades separately to reach more areas, especially communities.
Marcos thanked those present in the grand rally.
“Sabi ko na nga ba eh, ang mga Taclobanon hindi tinatalaban ng ulan. Bumuhos na ‘yung tubig, bumuhos na ‘yung ulan, hindi lumalamig, mas uminit pa dahil sa salubong na ibinigay niyo sa amin (I knew it. The Taclobanons are invincible to the rain. The rains had poured but it became warmer because of your welcome),” he said.
A 35-minute fireworks display, despite the rain, also greeted the UniTeam.
Similar sorties were also held in Maasin City, Baybay City, and Ormoc City prior to the Tacloban event. The UniTeam also met with local officials led by Leyte Gov. Leopoldo Dominico “Mic” Petilla and Tacloban City Mayor Romualdez.
