ATTY. John Rex Laudiangco is staying on as acting spokesperson of the Commission on Elections after his appointment was renewed by acting Comelec Chair Socorro Inting last Friday.
“Please be advised that you shall continue to be the Acting Spokesperson of the Commission until the assumption of the new Chairman,” Inting said in a memorandum released on Monday.
In early May 2022, Laudiangco was designated as acting spokesperson by then Comelec Chair Saidamen Pangarungan.
Laudiangco replaced James Jimenez, who was involved in the PiliPinas Debates 2022 fiasco.
After the appointment of Pangarungan was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments early this month, Laudiangco’s designation also lapsed, leaving the position of Comelec spokesperson temporarily vacant.
Last week, the Commission En Banc designated Inting as the acting poll chief.
