ANTI-NARCOTICS operatives arrested a 38-year-old woman in Pasay City last Tuesday afternoon after she claimed 1.46 kilos of ecstasy worth P4.96 million sent from Belgium at the Central Mail Exchange Center.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) named the suspect as Charito Casamello, a resident of Tramo St. Barangay Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City.

Casamello was arrested by operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) at around 1:15 p.m. The task group is composed of agents from several government agencies, including PDEA and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group.

Casamello was nabbed after she claimed a parcel that was earlier discovered by authorities as containing ecstasy.

The parcel also contained headphones, a tumbler, dresses, a chopping board, a PhilHealth and voter’s identification cards, a notice card and a Samsung phone.

It was reportedly shipped by one Maria Suarez from Berchem, Belgium and consigned to Casamello.

Quezon City Police District operatives arrested six suspected drug peddlers in two separate operations in the city.

One of the suspects, Sarah Solong, 41, was nabbed at around 5:30 p.m. last Tuesday in Barangay Sta. Monica, Novaliches during a buy-bust operation.

Seized from her were 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000, a brown bag, a cellphone, and the buy-bust money.

The five other arrested suspects were Jun-Jun Mercader, Alvin Franche, Kim Silverio, Gerardo De Leon, and Alexis Joseph Morales.

They were arrested in another buy-bust operation in Barangay Gulod, Novaliches.

They yielded 200 grams of marijuana worth P20,400 and two motorcycles.
