THE Philippine Association of Agencies for Kuwait (PHILAAK) yesterday handed a donation of P220,000 to the family of slain overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Jullebee Ranara.
A photo released by the organization showed PHILAAK Vice President Mary Mei Victorino handing the donation to the mother of Jullebee.
“We expressed our sympathy with the family of slain OFW Jullebee Ranara along with a substantial donation,” the group said.
“The donation was given by private recruitment agencies and foreign recruitment agencies, who also expressed their sympathy and compassion to the family,” it added.
The group said an additional amount is expected to be turned over next week with more foreign recruitment agencies still expected to donate.
Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople witnessed the turnover of the donation to the Ranara family.
Last month, Ranara’s burnt remains were found in a desert in Kuwait, where she was employed as a household service worker.
The primary suspect in her killing is the 17-year-old son of her Kuwaiti employer.
